ENERGY EFFICIENCY STATEMENT
Dear Guest,
The Valley Hotel has been a member of the Hospitable Climates Campaign since 2004. Hospitable Climates is in partnership with the Government's Action Energy Programme aimed at reducing energy used within the hospitality industry to help reduce carbon emissions.
The main aim of this initiative is to encourage the hospitality industry to improve its energy efficiency while maintaining quality and competitiveness. Its objective for 2010 is to reduce carbon emissions to atmosphere by 15% compared with levels for 1999.
Valley Hotel Energy Saving Measures:
- o Bedroom lighting (& ventilation) is controlled by key card, ensuring that lights will switch OFF shortly after a room is vacated
- o Introduction of extra loft insulation in roof space to reduce the loss of heat.
- o Zoned heating for both accommodation floors.
- o Sensor lights in all stores, toilets / accommodation floors & stairwells.
- o Three new high efficient boliers installed.
- o All new bedrooms fitted with triple glazing.
- o Thermostatic Radiator Valves.
- o Staff trained on energy saving issues.
- o Recycling of non-returnable glass bottles.
- 0 All cardboard is bailed and recycled.
- 0 Electric supplied by Air-Tricity renewable energy.
Some Interesting Facts
- Switching off non-essential equipment in an office overnight saves enough energy to run a small car for 100 miles.
- A photocopier left on overnight uses enough energy to produce over 1500 copies.
- Leaving a P.C monitor on all night wastes enough energy to microwave six dinners.
- Lighting an office or canteen overnight wastes enough energy to heat water for 1000 cups of tea.
You to can play a small part and help us by putting in the bath only those towels that you would like replaced.
Yours sincerely,
Greg Williamson
